The third GTA 6 trailer is here. On Thursday, October 15, Rockstar released the game's Launch Trailer, just over a month before its November 19 release. The video runs 1 minute and 29 seconds, reveals a bit of Jason and Lucia's past and marks the debut of "Flower in a Hurricane," a new song by French duo Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
What the trailer shows
Unlike August's Extended Look, which spent almost half an hour explaining gameplay mechanics, the launch trailer is short and focused on story and mood. According to Vice and TheGamer, these are the key points:
- Jason's past: the video opens with Jason saying he ran into trouble in the army. According to Vice, he did not leave on good terms and now struggles to find work.
- Lucia's call: Lucia calls Jason from prison, and that is where the duo's story starts moving.
- Plenty of action: the second half is a montage of scenes in Vice City set to the Justice song. TheGamer highlights Lucia leaping onto a moving plane and Jason and Lucia sitting on the roof of a car.
- Supporting characters: according to TheGamer, Raul and Cal, characters Rockstar had already introduced, make brief appearances.
- A more intimate moment for the couple: the trailer also includes a romantic scene between the two that caught fans' attention on social media.
The official description is the same as for the previous trailers: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them, but when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America," in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida.
The music: Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard
Rockstar confirmed on the trailer page that Justice composed GTA 6's original score. "Flower in a Hurricane" brings together three big guests: Australian project Tame Impala, American singer SZA and Australian band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. According to VGC, the track will appear on "Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album," the game's official soundtrack album.
The choice follows the series' trailer tradition. The first trailer used Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road," and the second used the Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together." This time, instead of a classic, Rockstar debuted a new song. See every video in order in our guide to the official trailers and videos.
Captured on PS5
As with the previous videos, Rockstar says the trailer was captured on PlayStation 5, and the video opens with the PlayStation logo. According to Vice, it was a base PS5, not a Pro. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC version has not been officially announced.
The end of the wait for Trailer 3
The third trailer was one of the most discussed topics among fans. Insiders pointed to dates in April and May that never panned out, and in August Rockstar chose to release the long gameplay showcase on Netflix instead. As the company's track record suggested, the third video arrived as a launch trailer, close to release. We covered that wait in "GTA 6 Trailer 3: why it took so long".
