Insiders said April. Then May 26. Nothing happened. Instead of a third trailer, Rockstar delivered a 26-minute gameplay presentation. So does Trailer 3 still exist? Probably, and Rockstar's own track record offers a clue.
What insiders said
- April: a Russian site pointed to April 14 as a likely date, with no identified source.
- May: the leaker Graczdari mentioned May 26, which matched the original release date. Several sites ran with it. Nothing came out.
- August: rumors of "more gameplay in August" turned out to be the "Extended Look", which Rockstar never called a trailer.
Rockstar's pattern
For Red Dead Redemption 2, the third trailer came out in May 2018, five months before the October launch, and the launch trailer arrived nine days before release. For GTA V, the first official gameplay video arrived in July 2013, about ten weeks before the September launch.
| Game | Last big video | Time before launch |
|---|---|---|
| GTA V | Official gameplay video (Jul 2013) | ~10 weeks |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Launch trailer (Oct 2018) | 9 days |
| GTA 6 | Extended Look (Aug 2026) | ~12 weeks |
Our estimate
If Rockstar follows the RDR2 playbook, a launch trailer should appear between late October and the second week of November. Pre-orders and pricing have been live since June, so the trailer would be the last big push before release. Take-Two's earnings report in early November is the most likely moment for a hint.
Any specific date you read before that is a guess. Ours included.
