Three weeks before launch, Nintendo released a roughly five-minute overview trailer on Wednesday (October 14) for the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Besides showing the rebuilt game, the video and the official text that accompanies it reveal features that did not exist in the 1998 classic, such as a hall for fighting bosses again and the ability to play the ocarina for real through the console's microphone. The game arrives on November 5.

What was shown

The trailer, released in English and Japanese, sums up the adventure of young Link, guided by the fairy Navi, on a journey through time centered on the ocarina and the Triforce. According to Nintendo, the game has been "completely reborn" for Switch 2, with overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue, and an orchestral soundtrack.

These are the new features confirmed on the official page:

  • Hall of Fallen Heroes: a new area with statues of monsters you have already defeated. There, players can read about each one or challenge them to a rematch.
  • Ocarina through the microphone: humming a melody Link has already learned, or playing it on a real instrument, makes the in-game ocarina respond. The feature uses the Switch 2 microphone.
  • ZELDA NOTES: the service in the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices also works with the game, adding extras to the adventure. It requires a Nintendo Account and an internet connection.
  • amiibo: two new Ocarina of Time amiibo launch in 2027 and unlock special in-game masks. Existing Zelda amiibo also provide rewards.

Price, edition and accessories

In the United States, the game costs $59.99 digitally and $69.99 physically, according to Gematsu. Nintendo's US store also lists an accessory called the Electric OCARINA OF TIME for $49.99, plus Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo for $24.99 each. Prices vary by country, and Nintendo did not share pricing for other regions in this announcement.

The November 5 date was announced on September 8, during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. In the same presentation, Nintendo confirmed a Zelda-themed commemorative Switch 2 edition that arrives earlier, on October 29, along with themed Pro Controllers and a carrying case.

Why it matters

Ocarina of Time is one of the most influential games ever made, and the remake is Nintendo's biggest bet for the end of 2026, the year the series turns 40. It launches two weeks before GTA 6, scheduled for November 19, putting two of the year's most anticipated games in the same month, but on different platforms: GTA 6 has no announced Switch 2 version.

What we still don't know

Nintendo has not detailed which masks the new amiibo unlock or their exact 2027 release date. There is also no official information yet about the download size or about extra content beyond what is on the game's page.
