If you play GTA V through your PlayStation subscription, the clock is ticking on your last trip around Los Santos. Sony has started notifying subscribers, through a notification on the PS5 itself, that the game stays in the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalog only until November 17. The timing is no accident: two days later, on November 19, GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What was announced

According to PlayStation LifeStyle, the message appears to members on PS5 and invites anyone counting down to GTA 6 to visit Los Santos in the meantime. The notice makes it clear that GTA V remains in the catalog until November 17, the day the next wave of PS Plus games begins. GTA BOOM and HappyGamer also reported the message, which started circulating on social media on Monday (October 12).

The promotion draws a direct line between the two games: it recalls the story of Franklin, Michael and Trevor and points ahead to Jason and Lucia in Vice City. In practice, Sony is using the 2013 game as a warm-up for the most anticipated launch of the year.

Who loses access

The change only affects people playing GTA V through the PS Plus Extra or Premium catalog. Anyone who bought the game, physical or digital, keeps it as usual. The game also remains on sale on the PlayStation Store for those who want to keep playing after November 17.

In other words: if you still have a campaign halfway done or want to revisit Los Santos before moving to Leonida, you have a little over a month to do it without paying for the game separately.

An in-and-out that has become routine

This is not the first time GTA V has left the service. The game joined the catalog in December 2023 and again in November 2024, and both times it stayed for about six months before leaving, according to VGC. Its most recent return came in November 2025. This time, the removal lines up with the final stretch of the GTA 6 campaign.

GTA V launched in September 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360, got PS4 and Xbox One versions in 2014 and an enhanced edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022. GTA 6 arrives more than 13 years after its predecessor.

What we still don't know

  • Which other games leave PS Plus in November. According to PlayStation LifeStyle, the full list should be revealed on October 20.
  • Whether GTA V will get a discount on the PlayStation Store before it leaves the catalog. Sony has not mentioned a sale.
  • Whether GTA V will return to the service in the future, as it has before.
