What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Rockstar has not announced the exact unlock time yet. It also hasn't said whether the game unlocks at the same moment worldwide or at midnight in each country. This page will be updated as soon as the company shares it.

Why preloading matters

The physical editions don't include a disc: the box contains a code to download the game. So everyone has to download it. Pre-ordering and preloading from November 12 means you won't be stuck waiting for the download on launch day.

The history of delays

  • First target: fall 2025.
  • Second target: May 26, 2026.
  • Current date: November 19, 2026, reaffirmed by Take-Two.

Rumors of another delay come up often, but none has been confirmed. See what we know about the release date.

Which platforms

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. A PC version has not been announced, as we explain in GTA 6 on PC.

What could still happen before launch

  • Launch trailer: Rockstar hasn't announced a third trailer, but its track record suggests a video close to launch. See when Trailer 3 should arrive.
  • More radio stations: six stations have been revealed, and Rockstar says there are more. They're in the radio stations guide.
  • Unlock time and download size: not announced yet.
