The Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light finally has a date: March 18, 2027. Insider Gaming and VGC reported it on October 14 and 15, crediting the confirmation to developer IO Interactive. Pre-orders are already open.

What was announced

IO Interactive's spy game, from the studio known for the Hitman series, launched on May 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and the Epic Games Store). The Switch 2 version lagged behind: according to VGC, it was delayed to the third quarter of 2026 and, in September, pushed again to March 2027 with no specific day. Now the exact day has been revealed.

According to VGC, only the Deluxe Edition has been confirmed for Switch 2, at $69.99 (pricing varies by country). Pre-ordering gives early access to a GoldenEye-inspired suit.

What the studio says

Technical producer Cristina Vega said, per VGC, that the goal is for fans to experience the game "in its most polished form" on Switch 2, and that the delay was not caused by unexpected issues. It is a common explanation when a studio gives a version for different hardware more time than the rest of the launch.

The date timeline

  • March 27, 2026: original date, on all platforms.
  • May 27, 2026: launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, after the first delay.
  • September 2026: the Switch 2 version is delayed to March 2027, with no day.
  • October 2026: March 18, 2027 is confirmed.

Why it matters

007 First Light is one of the biggest third-party bets for Switch 2 next year. Nintendo's console has been getting big-budget games later than other platforms, and a fixed date lets people waiting for the handheld version plan their purchase. It also shows the studio kept its promise to ship the game on the device, even after two delays for this version.

Players on other platforms do not have to wait: the game has been available since May. For Switch 2 owners, the Deluxe Edition pre-order is the only confirmed path so far.

What is still unknown

  • Whether there will be a standard edition on Switch 2 and what it would cost.
  • Storage requirements and performance, such as resolution and frame rate, on Switch 2.
  • Whether the content will be identical to other platforms on launch day.

Insider Gaming notes that its article does not link to an official IO Interactive statement; it only credits the studio with the confirmation. It is worth checking the developer's own announcement and Nintendo's store when more details arrive. We will follow this and update the story if new information is released.
