A month before the November 19 launch, GTA 6 has been through the age-rating boards. South Korea's GCRB gave the game an "Adults Only" rating, and the ESRB in the United States lists it as Mature 17+.
What was rated
According to Inven Global, in a report dated October 16, South Korea's Game Content Rating Board (GCRB) rated GTA 6 "Adults Only," which allows the game to be officially distributed to adults in the country. The article cites intense violence, sexual content and depictions of drugs. Reviews of adult PC and console games moved from the former GRAC body to the GCRB on November 1, 2025. The outlet recalls that GTA 5 also launched in South Korea, in 2013, with an adults-only rating.
In the United States, Dexerto reported on October 6 that the ESRB lists the game as Mature 17+, with the descriptors Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. The same article notes that neither the ESRB nor PEGI shows a gambling descriptor, which appears on other Rockstar titles, but warns that its absence does not prove betting was left out of the game.
What about other countries
Gurugamer, in a piece dated October 3, collects ratings from other regions: PEGI 18 in Europe and the UK, R18 in Australia and R18 in New Zealand, with descriptors such as violence, sex, drugs and in-game purchases. The same article cites a PEGI content summary that was posted on October 2 and later taken down. Because that listing disappeared and the source is a secondary outlet, treat these details as reports until the boards or Rockstar confirm them.
What we still don't know
- Rockstar has not commented on the ratings. What the game actually shows will only be clear at launch.
- There is no official confirmation that the game has no betting mechanics; the absence of a descriptor is not proof.
- Ratings in other markets were not verified by this newsroom for this article.
Why it matters
Age ratings are the last big regulatory step before a launch, and an adult rating in a strict market like South Korea clears the way for official sales. For buyers the message is simple: GTA 6 is a game for adults in every market where a rating has appeared. Always check the rating for your country in the official PlayStation or Xbox store. GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
